Special Events

The workshop offers a variety of entertaining events for participants.  We encourage you to join us.

Reception at the Atomic Testing Museum - Monday, May 11,

6:30 to 9:00 PM with a self-guided tour

The first full day of the workshop concludes with a welcoming reception at the Atomic Testing Museum.  The reception is an enjoyable social occasion where you can visit with friends and colleagues.  Take a self-guided tour of the museum.  The multimedia exhibits portray the events and activities that occurred over 50 years of nuclear weapons research and testing conducted at the Nevada Test Site.

Dinner Cruise on Lake Mead – Tuesday, May 12

Make plans to dine with us aboard the Desert Princess, a classic replica of a Mississippi river boat.  Dinner is served in a setting with all the traditional charm of the Deep South.  The excursion around Lake Mead includes fascinating stories of the Hoover Dam construction and the formation of the Colorado River and Grand Canyon.  As the three-tier paddlewheeler glides across the lake, passengers can stroll around the enclosed and promenade decks, visit with colleagues, and take photos.

Hosted Luncheon – Tuesday, May 12

Keynote Speaker / Plenary Session – Tuesday, May 12

Tour of the Nevada Test Site – Wednesday, May 13

Workshop organizers have arranged for a guided tour of the Nevada Test Site.  The coach bus tour includes the Mercury base camp and Frenchman Flat, which is the site of atmospheric nuclear tests conducted from 1951 to 1962.
